Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Process Specialist will focus on the innovation of new production methodologies and the assessment of current manufacturing systems by applying robust engineering principles and Lean methodologies. This role involves initiating, executing, and overseeing projects aimed at enhancing production efficiency, with an emphasis on thorough process documentation and effective change management. Responsibilities will encompass daily operational support as well as broader manufacturing initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead Project Management efforts
  • Identify and mitigate risks
  • Ensure technical suitability of projects
  • Independently manage both internal and external resources
  • Promote lean manufacturing and productivity enhancements across the facility through the development and application of innovative processes and equipment.
  • Engage in Lean initiatives such as Kaizen events, 5S, 8D, and other analytical tools to boost productivity.
  • Collaborate with Global Product Line Managers on new product development to fulfill customer needs cost-effectively.
  • Support the transition of new product development into production, including capital expenditure management and project hand-off to manufacturing.
  • Draft Capital Expenditure Requests for new equipment aimed at improving productivity and quality.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in designing production cells while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards, in compliance with QMS and OSHA regulations.
  • Provide technical assistance and problem-solving support using statistical analysis and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in response to customer feedback and internal corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain timelines for all assigned projects.
  • Prepare PPAP documentation for new products and customer qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with shop floor personnel, technical peers, management, and senior leadership.
  • Proficient in Project Management, capable of creating detailed project plans utilizing 3S and 5S methodologies and project management software.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to contribute as an individual while supporting others.
  • Demonstrated technical and troubleshooting expertise across various manufacturing disciplines.
  • High energy and ability to manage multiple projects alongside daily responsibilities.
  • Adept at defining issues, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Experience in preparing manufacturing process routings aligned with engineering principles and material specifications.
  • Knowledge of non-ferrous metallurgy and its implications on material properties, particularly in wire and strip manufacturing.
  • Experience in machine design and rebuilding is preferred.
  • Familiarity with process simulation is a plus.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 4 to 10 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven project management skills and experience.
  • Familiarity with LEAN and SIX SIGMA principles is advantageous.
