Position Summary

In the role of Auto Claims Adjuster, you will play a crucial part in investigating, assessing, and resolving auto and general liability claims for members of the TASB Risk Management Fund. This position requires a proactive approach to managing a portfolio of minor to moderately complex claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations to determine coverage and assess damages, set reserves, and negotiate settlements for first and third-party claims.
  • Provide guidance and support to fellow adjusters, particularly those who are newer to the team.
  • Communicate coverage decisions and issues clearly to school district leaders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to strategize on claims resolution.
  • Prepare and present subrogation claims to relevant insurance entities and third parties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a Texas Adjuster's License relevant to the job responsibilities.
  • Two to three years of experience in insurance or risk management is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Understanding of insurance practices, particularly regarding claims involving governmental entities.
  • Knowledge of Governmental Immunity and the Texas Tort Claims Act.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to manage a diverse caseload.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with traffic laws, negligence, tort actions, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient in using computers, claims management systems, Microsoft Office, and internet resources.
