About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Counselor I/II to join our team at the Mental Health Center of Denver. As a Residential Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Individualized Support: Offer one-on-one psychotherapy sessions to consumers, providing emotional support and insight to help them achieve their goals.
  • Facilitate Group Therapy: Lead group therapy sessions within the residential setting, promoting a safe and supportive environment for consumers to share their experiences and learn from one another.
  • Coordinate Clinical Care: Collaborate with case management services and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless continuity of care for consumers.
  • Assess and Intervene: Conduct regular assessments of consumers' needs and provide appropriate interventions to promote their well-being and recovery.
  • Teach Daily Living Skills: Encourage and support consumers in developing essential daily living skills, such as hygiene, cooking, and household chores.
  • Maintain a Safe Environment: Ensure the residential setting remains safe and secure for consumers, managing household tasks and activities as needed.
  • Document Consumer Interactions: Maintain accurate and detailed records of consumer interactions, progress, and treatment plans.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Respond promptly and effectively to consumer and building emergencies, collaborating with other staff members and supervisors as needed.
  • Advocate for Consumers: Act as a vocal advocate for consumers, promoting their acceptance and integration within the community.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: RC I: Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field. RC II: Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field.
  • Certifications: QMAP (Qualified Medication Administration Person), CPR & First Aid, and Physical Requirements (must be completed prior to hire and maintained during employment).
  • Experience: One year of mental health experience or in a related field preferred. Must be 20 years of age to apply.
