LabCorp is looking for dedicated professionals to fill the role of Medical Laboratory Technician. In this position, you will operate in a dynamic, patient-centered environment, contributing to our mission of enhancing health and improving lives.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3rd shift from 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with occasional weekend shifts.

Shift Differential Pay: $2.25/hour

Department: Generalist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established guidelines.
  • Conduct routine and advanced technical procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Exhibit the ability to make informed technical decisions regarding testing and problem resolution.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and test new reagents or controls.
  • Deliver accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control activities.
  • Identify and restock testing supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with specimen processing when required.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting, demonstrating efficiency and adaptability.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in a life science or laboratory science/Medical Technology.
  • Preferred prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • ASCP certification as a Medical Lab Technician is required.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient computer skills; familiarity with laboratory information systems is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screening.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or different shifts as needed.
  • Experience with automated instrumentation and manual testing in hematology, chemistry, and/or microbiology is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive interaction with clients, physicians, and staff is essential.
