LabCorp is seeking a Medical Laboratory Specialist to work in a high-volume, production-based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.
Key Responsibilities- Specimen Evaluation: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Technical Procedures: Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Instrumentation: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
- Quality Control: Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Test Results: Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
- Maintenance: Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Supply Management: Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Specimen Processing: Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
- Work Environment: Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Education: An Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent preferred with 1-3 years of experience, but will train.
- Certification: ASCP preferred.
- Communication: Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Color Vision: Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
- Flexibility: Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
