Position Title: Clinical Laboratory Specialist
Job Type: Contract
Position Summary:
- The role encompasses responsibilities typical of a medical laboratory scientist, medical technologist, or clinical laboratory scientist.
- The specific work environment or department will be detailed in the requirements.
- Evaluate the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established standards.
- Conduct both routine and intricate technical procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Oversee, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to guarantee optimal performance.
- Exhibit the capability to make informed technical decisions related to testing and troubleshooting.
- Prepare, assess, and validate new reagents or controls.
- Deliver precise and timely test results to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control protocols.
- Identify and restock testing supplies as required.
- Assist in the processing of specimens when necessary.
- Ensure a safe working environment and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or compliance with local regulatory requirements.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in clinical laboratory testing is essential.
- A State Medical Technologist license may be necessary, as specified in the requirements.
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred or required, depending on the specifics.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
- Proficient in computer usage; familiarity with laboratory information systems is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must successfully pass a standardized color vision screening.
- Willingness to work overtime or different shifts based on business needs.
