Medical Support Specialist

Rockbridge Area Health Center is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support our healthcare providers and deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide quality, comprehensive care by returning patient calls and completing provider orders.
- Schedule referral and/or specialist appointments, authorize and schedule diagnostic testing, and perform phlebotomy and/or finger sticks.
- Complete laboratory forms and perform other point-of-care tests such as a urinalysis, strep test, EKG, vision screening, pulse oximetry, etc.
- Collaborate with the Quality Improvement team to track the implementation of best practices and achievement of quality measures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Certification or as a Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification with hands on practicum is required at the time of hire.
- Phlebotomy experience/training is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Valid driver's license is preferred.
- Medical, dental, vision, 6 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, generous paid time off, and a 403(b)-retirement option.
