Job Title: School Intervention Specialist

Rockbridge Area Community Services is seeking a qualified individual to work in our coverage area of Rockbridge and Bath County, and the Cities of Lexington and Buena Vista.

Job Summary:

The School Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing direct behavioral interventions, therapeutic activities, and psychoeducational treatment to children and adolescents referred by the school administration.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to children and adolescents with mental, behavioral, or emotional illnesses.
  • Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans to address functional impairments in major life activities.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for referred students.
  • Document case information, including progress notes and treatment plans.
  • Participate in training and education opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services-related field, plus one year of clinical experience working with children/adolescents in a mental health setting.
  • Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professions as a Qualified Mental Health Professional-Child (QMHP-C) or Qualified Mental Health Professional Trainee (QMHP Trainee) is preferred.
  • Valid VA driver's license and a safe driving record.
