Advanced X-ray Systems Engineer

The Senior X-ray Inspection Engineer will play a crucial role in upholding high-quality X-ray methodologies across the organization, specifically focusing on X-ray Computed Tomography. This position involves collaboration with materials and design engineers, value stream engineers, external vendors, and research teams to innovate and validate new inspection techniques for materials and components. You will engage directly with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that inspection protocols and practices adhere to established specifications.

As new product introductions increase, you will have the opportunity to create and refine inspection methods, transitioning these processes into a production setting. Staying abreast of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation, will be essential as you identify opportunities to enhance component safety and minimize manufacturing costs. The role allows for the adaptation of procedures and practices, provided that the outcomes meet the required standards of quality, volume, and timeliness.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Digital X-ray/CT Inspection - experienced level 2 NAS-410
  • Level 3 NAS-410 is preferred
  • Comprehensive relocation support offered

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design, materials, and manufacturing engineers to define inspection requirements.
  • Develop and implement X-ray/CT inspection methods for aviation development and production hardware, including hands-on operation of X-ray/CT systems.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation quality standards for production hardware.
  • Lead and contribute to technical reviews of proposed inspection methods.
  • Create and execute plans to meet technical and program requirements, schedules, and contractual obligations, while proactively addressing potential issues.
  • Effectively monitor and communicate project status and associated risks.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data or programs generated for assigned projects in alignment with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to advance to a CT L3/CA role.
  • Maintain documented hours/training to achieve NAS410 CT L2 or an equivalent aerospace certification.
  • Possess knowledge of the theory and application of digital radiography or CT for non-destructive testing (NDE) applications.
  • Collaborate effectively with global, distributed teams to achieve objectives.
  • Exhibit leadership in NDE development efforts and work alongside other NDE specialists.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with relevant experience in NDE.

Desired Attributes:

  • BS degree in Materials, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Relevant experience in an engineering role with a focus on X-ray/CT technologies.
  • Familiarity with Digital X-ray/CT Inspection standards and certifications.
  • Experience with X-ray/CT equipment, including operation, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Background in developing and implementing inspection techniques and solutions.
  • Functional knowledge of VGStudio or Avizo CT data analysis software.
