Job Overview

The NDE Systems Engineer at GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) infrastructure and facilitating Assisted Defect Recognition (ADR) initiatives. This position is crucial for ensuring the effective execution of technical operations within the engineering domain.

Key Responsibilities

Management of NDT System Components:
Engage with suppliers to oversee:
  • Replacement of Detectors
  • Anode/Cathode Generators
  • HT Cables for Anode/Cathode
  • Water and Oil Coolers
  • Software, Sensors, and Bulbs
Collaboration and Implementation:
Participate in:
  • Defining and managing ADR processes, including documentation and revision control
  • Implementing production ADR systems based on established plans for multi-computer architectures
  • Working alongside NDE personnel and design teams to support the integration of new components into ADR systems
  • Documenting and communicating the status of NDT and ADR systems
  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation exists for setting up NDT and ADR systems, incorporating previous learnings
  • Validating design specifications for hardware configurations used on the shop floor
  • Encouraging a self-directed workforce to achieve business objectives
  • Developing strategic plans for mid- and long-term projects focused on quality, cycle time, and cost efficiency
  • Planning NDE process activities for both new product development and existing product support
  • Identifying safe manufacturing processes to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Exploring and applying new technologies to support growth initiatives
  • Assisting production teams in resolving manufacturing challenges through root cause analysis
  • Pursuing continuous improvement for quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Acting as a change agent to enhance operational performance
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of IT and programming experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in information technology and programming
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in software development with a focus on C++ and heterogeneous software solutions
  • Proficiency in Tcl, Python, QT, and Windows PowerShell
  • Background in NDE and aerospace manufacturing
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Data-driven decision-making skills utilizing Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and ISO quality procedures
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving capabilities
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
