Job Overview

The NDE Systems Engineer at GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation will be instrumental in enhancing the NDT infrastructure and facilitating the requirements of Assisted Defect Recognition (ADR). This role entails overseeing departmental operations and executing professional tasks within a technical domain.

Key Responsibilities

Management of NDT System Components:
Engage with component suppliers to manage:
  • Replacement of Detectors
  • Replacement of Generators: anode/cathode
  • HT cables: anode/cathode replacement
  • Replacement of Water & Oil Coolers
  • Software, sensor, and bulb replacements
Participate in:
  • Defining and controlling ADR processes, including revision control and documentation
  • Implementing production ADR systems on the shop floor using a generated ADR plan and architecture for multi-computer setups
  • Collaborating with NDE personnel for ADR development and working with the Design team to support new components with ADR integration for both BLADES and Additive platforms
  • Managing documentation and communication regarding the status of NDT and ADR systems
  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation exists for setting up NDT and ADR systems, incorporating all prior learnings
  • Validating design specifications for shop floor hardware configurations
  • Supporting shop floor operations to achieve business results while fostering input from team members in a self-directed environment
  • Contributing to the development of mid- and long-term plans to support business objectives, focusing on part quality, cycle time, and cost efficiency
  • Planning and executing NDE Process activities for new product development and ongoing product support
  • Identifying safe manufacturing processes that yield quality products efficiently
  • Researching and applying new technologies to support site growth initiatives
  • Assisting Team Leaders and production staff in resolving manufacturing process challenges through root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Pursuing continuous improvement for quality and cost reductions to meet quarterly and annual business unit goals
  • Acting as a change agent to guide operations toward best-in-class performance in inspection sequencing
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in information technology and programming
  • At least 3 years of experience in information technology and programming
Desired Attributes:
  • Experience as a software developer with over 1 year in architecting diverse software solutions, particularly with C++
  • Familiarity with Tcl, Python, QT, Windows PowerShell, or applications managing large data sets
  • Prior experience in NDE
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions utilizing Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
  • Knowledge of safety regulations
  • Familiarity with ISO and quality procedures
  • Demonstrates humility, respectfulness, and eagerness to learn
  • Transparent communicator who shares vital information and contributes constructively
  • Focused and strategic in prioritizing work

Note: This position is expected to qualify for DXR L3 within a specified timeframe and will work towards becoming a certifying agent thereafter.
