Fiber Optic Engineering Technician II

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Engineering Technician II to join our team at Valkyrie Enterprises. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, and testing fiber optic systems, as well as performing electrical and electronics maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and test fiber optic systems, including wiring and termination of fiber optic cables.
- Perform electrical and electronics maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, including repair and replacement of faulty equipment.
- Conduct cableway improvement and inspection activities to ensure compliance with NAVSEA standards.
- Use optical test equipment to perform in-process and final testing of installed and terminated cabling assemblies.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely completion of projects and meet customer requirements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 3-7 years of experience as a Trades and Engineering Technician I preferred.
- Cableway Improvement Certification and Multi-Pin Connector Certification required.
- NAVSEA fiber optic certification or ability to quickly certify in fiber optic connectorization and inspection of shipboard cable assemblies per Navy Standard Item and MIL-STD-2042 required.
- Thorough knowledge of power tools, shipboard operations, and NAVSEA standards required.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain a passport.
- Effective communication skills.
- Specialized qualifications such as Fiber Fabrication, Shipyard Competent Person, Permit Authorization Individual.
Security Requirements:
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and naval installations.
Travel Requirements:
- Moderate travel required; 50% or less.
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID, if required for travel or access to secure federal facilities/military bases.
Physical Requirements:
- Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking, grasping, talking, hearing, and visual acuity (depth perception).
- Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), subject to noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (affect the respiratory system), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia).
- Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles shall be worn when welding, cutting, or working with molten metal.
