Job Title: Air Pollution Specialist

Join the State Air Resources Board as an Air Pollution Specialist and play a critical role in maintaining air quality and protecting public health.

Job Summary

The Air Pollution Specialist will lead the Equipment Support Section, providing expertise in the maintenance, failure diagnosis, and resolution of problems with dynamometers, laboratory testing, sampling, measurement, and calibration equipment. The successful candidate will coordinate and perform the work of the Section, including the initial evaluation of staff capabilities and the identification of training needs to bridge the knowledge gap between test cell, QA/QC, and AVL on-site support staff.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform the work of the Equipment Support Section
  • Provide expertise in the maintenance, failure diagnosis, and resolution of problems with dynamometers, laboratory testing, sampling, measurement, and calibration equipment
  • Lead the Equipment Support Section and provide guidance to staff
  • Develop and implement training programs to improve staff capabilities
  • Collaborate with other sections and departments to ensure effective equipment operation and maintenance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental science, engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in air quality or environmental monitoring
  • Strong knowledge of air quality regulations and standards
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
