Position Title: Field Safety Manager

Location: Lafayette, LA

JOB SUMMARY:

We are in search of a dedicated Field Safety Manager to support our expanding operations in West Louisiana. Reporting directly to the Safety Director, this role is essential in ensuring the safety, health, and productivity of our workforce at Gallo Mechanical.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the safety and welfare of others while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Exceptional organizational skills, effective public speaking abilities, and adaptability to the dynamic construction environment are critical for success in this position. Strong verbal and written communication skills are imperative.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Duties:

  • Identify, document, and rectify unsafe conditions on job sites.
  • Oversee and implement safety initiatives.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and investigations related to property damage and injuries.
  • Accompany management during site inspections.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.

Training Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate training sessions for scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts.
  • Provide Job Safety Analysis training for foremen and lead personnel.
  • Capable of instructing OSHA 10 courses.
  • Conduct annual refresher training on common construction hazards.

Additional Duties:

  • Assess projects and sites prior to commencement to identify safety risks.
  • Regularly visit active sites to monitor safety conditions and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with project teams and field leadership to devise and implement solutions for safety-related challenges.
  • Maintain and submit safety documentation to the safety department.
  • Provide daily coaching to employees on safe work practices.
  • Conduct safety meetings and present safety orientations for new hires as necessary.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong listening abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Proficient recordkeeping and documentation skills.
  • Ability to access heights using ladders, scaffolds, or other equipment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical construction practices.

Education and Qualifications:

  • A degree in safety or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with technology for audits and recordkeeping.
  • OSHA 30 certification is required; OSHA 500 certification is a plus.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the role.
  • Ability to obtain necessary clearances from relevant government entities.
