Building Automation Specialist II

Position Overview
The individual in this role is responsible for the development and support of sophisticated building automation systems. This position typically involves overseeing the work of junior technicians and operates under the guidance of a senior engineer or designated supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with electronics engineers to design and implement various hardware and software systems for building automation;
- Provides recommendations for enhancements to building automation hardware and system functionalities;
- Coordinates with university staff and contractors for the integration and modification of building automation systems;
- Manages ongoing service contracts related to computer systems and peripherals;
- Assists in the development of computer, communication, and security protocols, including project cost estimations;
- Monitors the progress and expenses associated with building automation projects;
- Supervises the activities of Building Automation Technician I personnel;
- Diagnoses and repairs building automation console communication equipment, including circuit boards and data circuits;
- Creates and updates technical drawings and diagrams following system installations;
- Develops and troubleshoots software programs for the building automation system, such as energy usage and utility distribution reports;
- Performs additional related tasks as required.
Required Qualifications
- A combination of two years (24 months) of education and experience in building automation systems, electrical engineering, HVAC technology, or a related field. This can include coursework, associate degrees, or relevant work experience.
- A minimum of two years (24 months) of hands-on experience in performing technical duties related to building automation.
