Position Overview:

The Hospice Program Director is accountable for the comprehensive management of the hospice services, ensuring that we deliver empathetic, top-tier care to patients and their families while upholding operational effectiveness and financial health.

As the Hospice Program Director, you will manage all facets of the hospice program, including patient case management through a collaborative approach, adherence to regulatory standards, quality improvement initiatives, financial oversight, and daily administrative operations. You will also participate in the Nursing Administration team as needed.

Position Details:
This is a full-time, exempt role with a standard 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, including rotating evening and weekend on-call responsibilities.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, with a signing bonus available contingent upon a two-year service commitment.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
Formulates and executes the strategic plan for the hospice, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s mission and values while providing guidance to the hospice team.

Clinical Oversight:
Guarantees the delivery of high-quality hospice care, compliance with regulations, and the establishment of clinical policies. Maintains strong relationships with medical directors and healthcare providers, and participates in direct patient care as needed.

Financial Management:
Develops and oversees the hospice budget, monitors financial performance, and ensures proper billing and reimbursement practices.

Human Resources:
Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and developing hospice staff and volunteers, while fostering a positive workplace culture.

Community Engagement:
Builds and nurtures relationships with community partners, oversees marketing efforts, and engages in community outreach activities.

Quality Assurance:
Implements quality improvement strategies, monitors patient satisfaction, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Current, unencumbered RN license in Utah or a compact state.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a minimum of one year of recent RN experience.
  • At least three years of experience in Medical/Surgical, Home Health, or Hospice Nursing.
  • Preferred qualifications include direct hospice care experience, BSN, or MSN.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for patient visits.
  • Ability to take 6-10 on-call shifts per month, with a 45-minute response time.
  • Empathy towards terminally ill patients and families, along with self-awareness regarding end-of-life issues.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality care independently in unstructured settings.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Capacity to remain calm in stressful situations; emotionally mature.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Flexibility to accept additional duties as assigned.
