Position Overview:

DIRECTOR OF HOSPICE SERVICES


The Director of Hospice Services is tasked with the comprehensive management of the hospice program, ensuring that our team delivers empathetic, high-quality care to patients and their families while upholding operational effectiveness and financial health.

The hospice program offers the community:
- 24/7 on-call nursing support.
- In-home nursing care and assistance, including support at local care facilities.
- Prioritization of symptom and pain management by our dedicated nursing staff.
- Access to social workers for emotional and psychosocial support, along with community resource connections.
- Spiritual support and emotional care provided by chaplains.

Our trained volunteers are here to assist with errands, support caregivers, and provide companionship.

We also offer bereavement and grief support for families and loved ones for up to 13 months following a loss.

As the Director, you will oversee all facets of the hospice program, including patient case management through a collaborative approach, adherence to regulatory standards, quality improvement initiatives, financial viability, and daily administrative operations.

You will also participate in the Nursing Administration team as needed.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, exempt position with a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, including rotating evening and weekend on-call responsibilities.

Compensation:
Starting salary range: to annually, based on experience.
A *** signing bonus is available, contingent upon a 2-year service commitment.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
Formulates and executes the strategic vision for the hospice, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and values. Provides guidance and direction to the hospice team.

Clinical Oversight:
Guarantees the delivery of superior hospice care, compliance with applicable regulations, and the establishment of clinical policies. Maintains strong relationships with medical directors and healthcare providers. Engages in direct patient care and assists with call shift rotations. Oversees bereavement services and manages inventory and DME in collaboration with pharmacy.

Financial Management:
Develops and oversees the hospice budget, tracks financial performance, and ensures accurate billing and reimbursement processes.

Human Resources:
Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and developing hospice staff, including volunteers. Promotes a positive workplace culture.

Community Engagement:
Establishes and nurtures relationships with community partners, oversees marketing efforts, and engages in community outreach initiatives.

Quality Assurance:
Implements quality improvement strategies, monitors patient satisfaction, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:
Current, unencumbered RN license in Utah or a compact state.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a minimum of one year of recent RN experience.
At least 3 years of experience in Medical/Surgical, Home Health, or Hospice Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in direct hospice care; BSN or MSN preferred.
Current BLS certification.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for patient visits.
Availability to take 6-10 call shifts per month, depending on staffing needs, with a response time of 45 minutes.

Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of terminally ill patients and their families, along with an understanding of personal feelings regarding death and dying.

Ability to independently provide a high standard of care in dynamic environments.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Capable of managing stressful situations with composure; emotionally mature.
Punctual and reliable with work commitments.
Willingness to accept additional responsibilities as assigned.
