Job Title: Licensed Veterinary Technician II

Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician II to join our team at the Maddie's Shelter Medicine Program.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Veterinary Technician II will provide technical and instructional support to veterinary students, interns, and faculty clinicians in the Maddie's Shelter Medicine Program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in veterinary technology and experience working in a shelter medicine setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient care, including fear-free restraint, medical treatment, and specimen collection.
  • Assist with surgeries, including sterilization and ancillary procedures.
  • Monitor and assess patient care, implementing established medical and anesthetic protocols.
  • Provide instruction and support to veterinary students, interns, and faculty clinicians in clinical and anesthetic techniques.
  • Collaborate with faculty clinicians and other team members to ensure high-quality patient care and education.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in veterinary technology and New York State licensure.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a shelter medicine setting.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a large mobile van to local shelters.
  • Excellent communication, team building, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with various groups and individuals.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience instructing veterinary students or veterinary tech students.
  • Advanced training or specialty certification in an area of veterinary technology.
  • Experience working in an animal shelter or high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter clinic.
