About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Student Services Coordinator III to join our team at Elgin Community College. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our students by providing exceptional support services and activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate educational support services and activities to promote student success
  • Monitor academic progress of students and inform them of services and opportunities available to increase their success
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of participant activities, including college tours, workshops, and conferences
  • Maintain required training, licensure, and/or certifications
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged information and adhere to applicable privacy laws
  • Demonstrate sensitivity, understanding, and respect of diverse populations within the workplace
  • Maintain an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with two to four years' experience in education, social work, and/or a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Considerable knowledge in overcoming barriers similar to the targeted population to be served
  • Considerable knowledge applicable to TRiO grant application, awarding, annual reporting processes, and community resources available to support program participants and their families
  • Considerable skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher
  • Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Considerable skills working independently and also collaboratively with others
  • Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Working skills in verbal and written communication
  • Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software, and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous community college counseling experience and personnel work
  • Master's in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or a related field
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)
Work Environment

This is a part-time position, working 25 hours per week, with the possibility of flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends. The rate of pay is $25.89 per hour, with a mid-point of $34.52. The position is non-exempt and grant-funded.
