Work Schedule:

Up to 25 hours per week


Compensation:

This role is classified as grade 9, with a starting hourly rate of $16.32 and a midpoint of $18.80. Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience, in accordance with the college's compensation policies.

Job Overview:

The individual in this position will manage the daily operations of assisting students in applying for financial aid. This role is characterized by the ability to represent the financial aid office at various campus events. General supervision will be provided by the designated manager.


Required Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or a combination of relevant training and experience.
  2. Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines while ensuring attention to detail.
  3. Proficient problem-solving abilities with a focus on process improvement.
  4. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Effective interpersonal skills to engage with diverse individuals from various backgrounds.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Customer service proficiency.
  8. Ability to conduct internet searches and navigate various online platforms.
  9. Competence in using personal computers and related software, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
  10. Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Guide students through financial aid documentation, addressing inquiries and clarifying financial aid information while delivering exceptional service.
  2. Manage phone calls and emails effectively.
  3. Assist students with their FAFSA applications, reviewing information and facilitating necessary corrections.
  4. Stay informed on regulatory policies and suggest procedural updates based on new information.
  5. Engage in special projects as assigned.
  6. Maintain necessary training, licensure, and certifications.
  7. Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and comply with privacy regulations.
  8. Demonstrate respect and understanding for diverse populations in the workplace.
  9. Understand colleagues' roles to provide support during peak periods or staff shortages.
  10. Adhere to departmental attendance and punctuality standards.

Additional Duties:

  1. Perform other job-related tasks as assigned that align with the job description.
  2. Be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Primarily sedentary work (occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs, predominantly sitting).


Visual Requirements:

Close visual acuity required (e.g., for computer work).


Work Environment:

Typical office setting with moderate noise levels.
