Job Summary:
Benton Franklin Head Start is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and repairs on our buildings and playgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance duties to ensure the upkeep of our facilities, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
- Repair, replace, and install minor electrical and plumbing components, as well as other related maintenance activities.
- Maintain facilities by performing minor and routine painting, and assisting with remodeling projects.
- Lift and move furniture within and between buildings as requested by the supervisor.
- Pick up and deliver supplies or other items as needed.
- Provide services requiring light carpentry skills, including power washing and cleaning of facilities.
- Schedule projects and work arrangements to minimize disruption to our operations.
- Assist with vehicle maintenance and respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
- Clean heat registers and air conditioner vents and coils, and replace air conditioner filters as necessary.
- Ensure water temperatures are properly maintained and complete 30-second emergency lighting tests.
- Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures and work orders.
- Assess the safety condition of all playground equipment and mulch used by Benton Franklin Head Start children, and make immediate corrections to unsafe conditions when possible.
- Report safety, sanitation, and fire hazard conditions to the supervisor.
- Perform outdoor custodial duties, including site cleanup and snow removal as required.
- Spot clean carpets as needed and maintain maintenance supplies.
- Attend safety meetings, professional development, and training as requested.
- Interact in a professional and respectful manner with Agency staff and the public.
- Responsible for maximizing and documenting in-kind contributions.
- Ability to drive, including travel to multiple sites.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED)
- Three years of general building maintenance experience, including light plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical skills
- Knowledge of local health/safety regulations, ADA, OSHA, and commitment to complete the OSHA 10-hour construction training course on workplace safety
- Knowledge of equipment operations, tools, and terms used in building maintenance work
- Experience in playground safety preferred or commitment to complete a playground safety training course
