Position Summary:
This role requires a U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. The IT Field Support Specialist is responsible for providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, both on-site and remotely, for various IT equipment including computer workstations, servers, printers, and teleconferencing tools.
The specialist will:
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate current configurations and user needs.
- Analyze existing requirements and prepare specifications for hardware procurement.
- Develop schedules for hardware installations and prepare detailed documentation of configuration changes.
- Prepare installation and testing reports, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
- Provide training to site personnel on the effective use of hardware.
- Build specialized interconnecting cables as needed.
The role includes:
- Diagnosing, repairing, and testing computer workstations, servers, printers, and related equipment.
- Installing and configuring hardware and associated cabling.
- Maintaining government and vendor-manufactured fiber optic modems, multiplexers, and telephone systems.
- Supporting network upgrade initiatives and addressing end-user connectivity requirements.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum education: High school diploma or GED with 2-4 years of relevant experience, along with Security+ certification. Alternatively, an Associate's degree in a technical field with 2 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
Certifications: Candidates must possess one of the following 8570 certifications: A+ CE, NET+ CE, or SSCP.
Essential Skills:- Proficient in installing, repairing, and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience in remote support for end-users.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 7 and 10.
- Knowledge of Active Directory security and policies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Must be able to operate a company vehicle and lift up to 50 pounds.
Physical Requirements:
The role involves significant physical demands including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, as well as occasional stooping, kneeling, and crawling in confined spaces.
Clearance Requirement: Candidates must possess a TS/SCI polygraph clearance.
