Job Summary

The Operations Manager 2nd Shift is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plant, ensuring the production of high-quality products while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate and maintain a safe workplace by implementing effective safety and ergonomic programs.
  • Lead the Safety Committee and implement goals to reduce injuries and costs.
  • Oversee production employees, ensuring all operating procedures are followed and updated as needed.
  • Ensure employee safety training and identify and correct safety hazards and ergonomic issues.
  • Maintain product failures and foreign material issues at a minimum.
  • Serve as a contact person for vendors and suppliers.
  • Develop and implement methods to ensure production goals are met, including product quality, efficiency, hours, cost, and safety.
  • Manage labor, raw material utilization, yields, supplies, and waste reduction to ensure efficient operations.
  • Perform managerial/supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating employees.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (agriculture, animal science, or business) plus ten years of plant experience.
  • Well-developed management skills and ability to lead a team of employees.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, including safety files, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
