Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our 2nd shift maintenance team at Smithfield Foods. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment used throughout the plant, facilities, utilities, and powerhouse equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise maintenance crews to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations
  • Develop and implement maintenance systems, processes, and documentation to support high-performing manufacturing organizations
  • Ensure maintenance is scheduled in a timely manner and work closely with production to schedule and accomplish equipment and facility repairs
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function
  • Provide long-term solutions and day-to-day support to operating teams with issues related to troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
  • Train employees on proper work methods and safety procedures
  • Ensure tasks are completed in accordance with USDA regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed and inventory
  • Provide regular status reports to the maintenance management team
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff or through managing a process or project
  • Advanced technical skills in ammonia refrigeration, high-pressure boiler, compressed air, mechanical, and electrical fields
  • Strong leadership skills, including conflict resolution, facilitation, change management, decision-making, empowerment, and delegation
  • Ability to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Good planning and priority-setting skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Office and plant setting. The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
