Summary:

We are seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist to join our expanding team of professionals. Our facility is a level III trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, providing a supportive environment for both outpatient and inpatient care. The Speech Language Pathologist will primarily work with adult patients, addressing a range of speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders, including those related to Head and Neck cancer.

The ideal candidate will possess specialized skills in managing dysphagia, cognitive impairments, and various speech/language disorders. We offer diverse services and are committed to professional development through training opportunities. Daily access to FEES and VFSS is available.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including patient history, subjective and objective assessments, and establish individualized treatment plans.
  2. Utilize evidence-based practices to select appropriate interventions and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress.
  3. Educate patients and caregivers on dietary modifications and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure nutritional needs are met.
  4. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with best practices.
  5. Ensure patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
  6. Provide education to patients, caregivers, and staff as necessary.
  7. Collaborate effectively with team members, including physicians and other healthcare professionals, to facilitate discharge planning.
  8. Screen for and refer patients to other disciplines as needed.
  9. Maintain current BLS certification.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Adhere to the organization's Standards of Behavior and Code of Conduct in all job-related activities.

Position Requirements:

COVID-19 Vaccination: Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is a prerequisite for employment. Exemptions for religious or medical reasons will be considered upon request.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Active or Interim WA State Speech Pathologist license by the start date.
  • Certification of clinical competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) or actively pursuing clinical fellowship with ASHA.
Desired:
  • Two years of experience in speech-language pathology.
Physical/Sensory Demands:

Work involves a combination of walking, sitting, and standing, with frequent interactions with patients.

Working Conditions:

Work is conducted in various settings, including treatment rooms and patient areas, with continuous patient contact and frequent interruptions.
