We are seeking a dedicated full-time Speech Language Pathologist to enhance our dynamic team of SLP professionals. As a recognized level III trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, we provide exceptional care in a picturesque environment. The Speech Language Pathologist will primarily focus on outpatient adult care, with occasional inpatient acute care responsibilities during weekends and holidays. This role involves evaluating and treating patients with complex speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders, particularly within the Head and Neck cancer demographic. The ideal candidate will possess specialized skills in managing dysphagia, cognitive challenges, and various speech/language disorders. We offer a range of services and are committed to supporting professional development through training opportunities. Daily access to FEES and VFSS is available.

A Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for delivering professional services that include diagnosing communication and swallowing disorders. This encompasses patient evaluations, treatment plan development, implementation of therapeutic programs, and effective discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including patient history, subjective and objective assessments, and the formulation of care plans and treatment goals.
  2. Utilize evidence-based clinical decision-making to select and implement appropriate interventions, adjusting the treatment plan as necessary based on patient progress.
  3. Determine the safest and least restrictive dietary options for patients, educating them and their caregivers on necessary modifications, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to meet nutritional needs.
  4. Adhere to best practices for clinical documentation.
  5. Ensure patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  6. Provide educational support to patients, caregivers, and staff as needed.
  7. Engage in effective collaboration and communication with team members, including physicians, case managers, and nursing staff, particularly in discharge planning scenarios.
  8. Screen for and refer patients to other specialties when appropriate.
  9. Maintain current BLS certification.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active or Interim Washington State Speech Pathologist license by the start date.
  • Certification of clinical competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) or actively pursuing clinical fellowship with ASHA.

Desired:

  • Two years of experience in speech-language pathology.
