We are seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist to become a vital part of our established team of SLPs. Our facility is recognized as a level III trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center. The selected candidate will primarily focus on outpatient adult care, with occasional inpatient acute care responsibilities during weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients with complex speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders, particularly within the Head and Neck cancer demographic. The ideal candidate will possess specialized skills in managing dysphagia, cognitive challenges, and various speech/language disorders. We provide diverse services and are committed to professional development through training opportunities. Daily access to FEES and VFSS is available.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Speech Language Pathologist, your duties will encompass:

  1. Conducting initial evaluations, including patient history, subjective information, objective assessments, and establishing treatment plans and goals.
  2. Utilizing evidence-based clinical decision-making to implement and adjust patient interventions based on progress.
  3. Identifying safe dietary modifications for patients, educating them and their caregivers, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to meet nutritional needs.
  4. Maintaining high standards for clinical documentation.
  5. Ensuring patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  6. Providing education to patients, caregivers, and staff as necessary.
  7. Collaborating effectively with team members, including physicians and nursing staff, particularly in discharge planning.
  8. Screening for and referring patients to other disciplines when appropriate.
  9. Maintaining current BLS certification.
  10. Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Active or Interim WA State Speech Pathologist license by the start date.
  • Certification of clinical competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) or actively pursuing clinical fellowship with ASHA.

Desired:

  • Two years of experience in speech-language pathology.
