Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at the University of California - San Francisco Campus and Health. As a Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for processing all forms of requests for payment, issuing electronic file payments, and distributing paper checks, wire transfers, and bank drafts.

You will also be responsible for resolving payment-related problems, reporting on payments to departments, suppliers, and government agencies, and supporting internal and external customers with disbursement and accounts payable inquiries.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of financial processes, policies, and procedures, as well as proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process all forms of requests for payment, including supplier invoices, department payment and check requests, employee reimbursement, student loans, travel advances, and other formal requests for goods and services.
  • Issue electronic file payments, including ACH, EFT, and other electronic payment methods.
  • Distribute paper checks, wire transfers, and bank drafts.
  • Resolve payment-related problems and report on payments to departments, suppliers, and government agencies.
  • Support internal and external customers with disbursement and accounts payable inquiries.
  • Assist with furnishing data pertinent to all internal and external payment compliance audits.
  • Interact effectively and professionally with campus, faculty, suppliers, and staff to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Run various reports and metrics reporting to monitor SLA compliance and trends to improve processes and/or educate suppliers/departments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 1 year of experience with PeopleSoft or SAP Financial suite or comparable experience.
  • 1 year of previous experience with Accounts Payable, pay cycle process, wires, ACH, recalls & reversals, and handling of checks or comparable banking experience with wires, ACH, recalls & reversals, and handling of checks.
  • 1 year of experience in an organization of comparable size and complexity.
  • Working knowledge of financial processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, and decision-making.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff.
