Job Overview:

A Cook plays a vital role in crafting all culinary offerings according to established recipes for various dining venues including the Restaurant, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria, and Banquets. This position demands the highest standards to ensure the presentation of appetizing dishes. Additionally, the Cook is tasked with maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safety within the kitchen and workspaces while striving to minimize waste and optimize cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with guests and colleagues in a welcoming and service-oriented manner.
  • Adhere to attendance requirements as per hospitality standards, with schedules varying based on operational needs.
  • Uphold exemplary personal grooming and appearance, including wearing the designated uniform and name tag during shifts.
  • Follow all hospitality standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
  • Meet certification requirements relevant to the position, including Food Handlers Safety.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor at all times.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of menus and preparation methods in line with hotel standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of all storage areas.
  • Prepare food and set up stations prior to the opening of dining services to guarantee prompt and efficient guest service.
  • Prepare and present buffet items in accordance with hospitality standards.
  • Maintain a position on the kitchen line during service hours to prepare food to order, ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Prepare banquet food as specified in Banquet Event Orders.
  • Assist in food preparation for the Employee Cafeteria as directed by restaurant leadership.
  • Follow standard recipes for all food preparations, with special dishes being crafted under the guidance of restaurant management.
  • Break down buffets and kitchen stations, ensuring proper storage of food and equipment after each meal period.
  • Work at banquet food stations as scheduled by restaurant management.
  • Be knowledgeable about the location and operation of all fire safety equipment.
  • Practice safe work habits consistently to prevent injury to oneself or others.
  • Familiarize oneself with all hotel policies and emergency procedures.
  • Utilize Production Charts as outlined by hospitality standards.
  • Maintain attentiveness, friendliness, and courtesy towards guests, managers, and fellow associates.
  • Operate and maintain cleanliness of all kitchen equipment.
  • Adhere to the 'Clean As You Go' policy.
  • Assist in the storage and rotation of food items according to hotel procedures.
  • Participate in meetings as required by management.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred, along with experience in a hotel or related field.
  • Food Handlers Certification in compliance with state regulations.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly.
  • Quick and accurate evaluation and selection among alternative courses of action.
  • Capability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
