JOB SUMMARY

The Outbound Manager is accountable for overseeing and coordinating the activities of warehouse personnel engaged in the selection, loading, stacking, verification, and dispatch of foodservice and food-related products. This role involves executing the following responsibilities personally or through subordinate supervisors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver technical support, customer relations, and personnel management for significant programs and projects.
  • General Management - accountable for all operations during the night shift. Plans and monitors strategies to minimize losses. Collaborates with HR to formulate policies and procedures that enhance night shift efficiency and productivity.
  • Operations Management - establishes and promotes objectives, maintains communication with other departments (sales, transportation), analyzes and resolves issues related to night warehouse operations, collaborates with the Inventory Manager to optimize slot and cube utilization, and improve travel time for order picking.
  • Warehouse Function Management - supervises order selection and loading processes to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Human Resource Management - evaluates training requirements, provides training to staff, assesses employee performance, offers feedback and coaching, and manages employee relations including disciplinary actions. Regularly reviews team performance metrics to ensure alignment with goals.
  • Safety and Security Management - ensures adherence to safety policies and procedures, aiming to reduce or eliminate injuries, damages, and losses to products and equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Associate's Degree (Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred)

Experience
3 years of operations/warehouse experience in shipping and receiving perishable products, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience, or a combination of education, supervisory, and industry experience.

Skills
Familiarity with shipping practices and procedures, planning, organizing, analyzing, knowledge of inventory management software (AS400), and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel).

Decision Making Authority
Key decisions made independently include:

  • Providing corrective action to employees
  • Assigning daily tasks
  • Enforcing compliance with all safety policies
  • Rejecting inferior quality products upon receipt
  • Making personnel schedule adjustments


Key decisions requiring review and approval from supervisors include:
Increasing headcount and terminations.
