POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Support Service Provider III is to deliver critical assistance to individuals who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, or Hard-of-Hearing, ensuring they have the necessary access and autonomy within their communities. This position involves interpreting visual and environmental cues that may not be perceivable to the individual. Additionally, the role includes providing travel assistance, which may involve guiding individuals or offering transportation solutions to facilitate safe community engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate communication and access for individuals with hearing impairments.
- Provide essential travel support, including guidance and transportation.
- Adapt to the demands of the role, which may involve high-pressure situations.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation, Social Work, Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with individuals who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, or Hard-of-Hearing.
- Proficiency in sign language, including American Sign Language and other communication methods.
- Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
- Basic computer literacy and typing skills.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
- Ability to obtain necessary clearance and background checks.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in providing support services to individuals with hearing impairments.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and communication devices.
- Knowledge of Braille and other communication systems preferred by individuals who are Deaf-Blind.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and Signed English.
