Objective:

To serve as the Global Warehousing expert, facilitating the seamless integration of systems, personnel, and processes.

Take charge of assessing and, where appropriate, implementing innovative global warehousing technologies and material handling solutions.

This role builds on foundational Industrial Engineering principles while encouraging the application of advanced technology to devise effective solutions. Propel continuous enhancement across all adidas group distribution centers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and analyze challenges, formulating solutions to issues concerning production, layout, internal workflows, resource utilization, packaging material efficiency, and operational methodologies through established industrial engineering practices.
  • Assess facility limitations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Offer technical guidance for the design and optimization of automated, semi-automated, and manual distribution facilities.
  • Execute strategies to minimize operational expenses and reduce cost per unit.
  • Propose methods to enhance employee productivity and decrease material and utility waste, including restructuring job roles, reorganizing workflows, relocating workstations and equipment, and procuring new tools.
  • Deliver technological expertise and solutions to the US East Coast DTC community.
  • Recognize opportunities for standardization and the sharing of best practices across distribution centers.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments for various initiatives to evaluate investment value and provide financial justification for capital expenditures. Develop comprehensive business cases.
  • Advise on investments in new technologies and enhancements to efficiency within warehouse operations, including decision-making capabilities, workplace safety, and customer service standards.
  • Present and advocate for recommendations to all management levels.
  • Provide leadership and track milestones on distribution center projects, including retrofits and new facility designs.
  • Act as an external consultant to warehouse operations, serving as a change agent for the organization. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead capital projects from inception to final approval.
Key Relationships:

  • Internal - Management of distribution centers, GIT (WMS/WCS), and other Global Operations departments.
  • External - Relevant outside vendors as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in applying recognized industrial engineering techniques to achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Capable of leading teams through direct reporting and matrix relationships.
  • Skilled in identifying, evaluating, and developing project solutions and recommendations.
  • High level of self-management and a personal commitment to process improvement.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex processes and drive constructive change.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Action-oriented and solution-focused team player.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all management levels.
  • Comprehensive understanding of improvement methodologies such as SIX SIGMA, Kaizen, 5S, and Theory of Constraints.
  • In-depth knowledge of work measurement programs.
Required Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Over 5 years of experience in a distribution center setting.
  • Proven track record in Material Handling design, including sortation, conveyor systems, racking, and implementations.
  • Familiarity with Manhattan WMS and warehouse control interfacing.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Access, and MS Project.
  • Required proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills; multilingual abilities are a plus.
