Job Title: HSE Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled HSE Specialist to join our team at Lufkin Industries. As an HSE Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support in the areas of health, safety, and environmental management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide HSE support for all HSE-related training and activities.
  • Respond to incidents during working hours and non-working hours, including weekends.
  • Identify hazards and develop innovative solutions using the Hierarchy of Controls Model to mitigate such hazards.
  • Apply a rigorous approach to performing incident investigations, HSE audits, and hazard hunts to ensure root causes and key hazards are clearly identified and communicated.
  • Travel to work locations to coordinate the overall safety program with field and store personnel.
  • Present safety meeting topics in a classroom and field environment.
  • Conduct an HSE review on contracts and other operation documents to identify risk(s) and potential areas of concern.
  • Engage and build an effective relationship with all site personnel to promote a visible and proactive risk-based approach to HSE management.
  • Intervene and escalate when tasks, job plans, and/or actual tasks are not going to plan, or the risk profile changes.
  • Follow up on all Regional CAPAs and Incidents to ensure closure.
  • Monitor, record, and review all HSE performance against Lufkin Industries' objectives, while actively identifying key areas for continual improvement.
  • Plan or verify field activities and high-risk activities, including permits, safety observations, and LOTO.
  • Provide Safety Communication to the Region as required.
  • Other projects as required.
Essential Characteristics:
  • Act as a leader and provide support that aligns with the Lufkin Industries Management System.
  • Be assertive, pragmatic, solution-driven, and lead by exemplary behavior through consistent and clear communication to all levels of personnel.
  • Build relationships and mentor personnel while providing technical assistance and guidance relating to all HSE-related issues.
  • Maintain a healthy level of skepticism and concern about the management of risks (Chronic Unease) and avoid confirmation bias.
  • Remain independent and be prepared to stand alone when situations require it.
