Position Overview:

The Analyst in Balance Sheet and Capital Management will play a crucial role in supporting the U.S. capital position of SMBC Americas Holding and its subsidiaries. This position is integral to the Corporate Treasury Department Americas Division, directly reporting to the U.S. Chief Financial Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and develop financial forecasting models to support capital management strategies.
  • Assist in the implementation of both routine and ad-hoc projects within the Capital Management Function, including documentation and reporting.
  • Gain insights into SMBC's regulatory capital requirements and upcoming changes in capital regulations.
  • Conduct research and analyses to bolster regulatory capital initiatives and overall capital management efforts.
  • Utilize advanced spreadsheet and data analytics tools to interpret large datasets effectively.
  • Create high-quality presentations for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across various teams, including Risk, Finance, and Treasury, to maintain a foundational understanding of Treasury operations.
  • Support the drafting and updating of relevant Treasury policies, such as the Capital Management Policy.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the financial sector, particularly in Finance, Treasury, or Risk.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, computer science, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Professional qualifications such as MBA, CFA, FRM, or CPA are highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data visualization tools like Tableau.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL is a plus.

Work Environment:

This role requires a hybrid work arrangement, with an expectation of in-office presence three days a week, subject to organizational needs. SMBC values a diverse workforce and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities.
