Associate Director of Debt Financial Affairs

The Associate Director of Debt Financial Affairs plays a key role in managing Boston University's debt programs, focusing on both short-term and long-term debt, including taxable and tax-exempt options.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Debt Management
- Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Investment and Commercial Bank Relationship Management
- Debt Compliance and Reporting
Key Duties:
The successful candidate will:
- Monitor and evaluate the University's debt portfolio, engaging with key stakeholders to optimize debt issuances and refunding opportunities.
- Create comprehensive debt presentations for Trustee meetings and update financial analysis materials for regular reports and dashboards.
- Ensure accurate allocation of debt proceeds to individual projects, aligning with established funding plans using analytical and problem-solving techniques.
- Manage daily debt management activities, including servicing, interest rate risk monitoring, swap portfolio valuation, and collateral posting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in Finance, Treasury, and Cash Management.
- Proven ability to blend independent work with collaboration to ensure effective debt management and compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, and experience with other data management tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to suggest appropriate actions to management.
Preferred Skills:
- Public accounting or experience within a higher education institution.
- Experience with ERP/SAP systems.
