Academic Affairs Administrator Job Description

The Academic Affairs Administrator will work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Senior Manager of Faculty Affairs to provide administrative and operational support for the Academic Affairs Office at Pardee School of Global Studies.

Key Responsibilities:

Courses and Curricular Management
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean to track and manage course submissions, approvals, and revisions.
  • Conduct annual reviews of course inventory in various databases/course catalogues, reporting findings to the Dean and Associate Dean.
  • Maintain a database of course syllabi.
  • Manage course scheduling and participate in curriculum planning.
  • Develop expertise in BU HUB policies and provide support to the Associate Dean and Pardee Faculty members on all aspects of the process, including HUB approvals and revisions.
  • Work closely with Pardee Student Services, including course waitlists and prerequisite requirements.
  • Monitor course enrollments to comply with minimum requirements.
  • Attend Pardee School Academic Affairs Committee meetings to review courses and programs.
  • Maintain responsibility for cyclical semester functions, including management of course evaluations (including data for tenure & promotion cases), midterms, final grades, and final exams.
  • Assist the Associate Dean with special projects, such as Academic Affairs Committee agendas, and other ongoing activities.


Personnel and Appointments
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean and the Executive Director of Finance and Administration to manage the part-time adjunct faculty hiring and re-appointment process and the unpaid affiliate appointment process.
  • Support the Pardee Schools regional and thematic centers in processing and reviewing all unpaid appointment requests for Dean's approval.
  • Support the faculty appointment process and act as a backup to the Sr. Manager.


Requirements
  • BA required; MA preferred
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and data management
  • Academic affairs experience
