Debt Management Specialist

The Debt Management Specialist plays a key role in the management of Boston University's debt programs, including long-term and short-term, taxable, and tax-exempt debt. This position is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the University's debt portfolio, engaging with investment banks, rating agencies, and other stakeholders to identify debt issuance and refunding opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and evaluate the University's debt portfolio
- Engage with investment banks, rating agencies, and other stakeholders
- Create debt presentations for Trustee meeting materials and update financial analysis materials for regularly occurring reports and dashboards
- Ensure that the allocation of debt proceeds to individual projects aligns with the established funding plan
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the University's Debt management, including servicing of debt, monitoring and reporting interest rate risk, validating the swap portfolio mark-to-market valuation, and collateral posting
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of Finance, Treasury and Cash Management experience
- Demonstrated experience blending independent work and collaboration to ensure effective debt management and compliance with institutional objectives
- Advanced skills utilizing Excel, including complex formulas in order to acquire, organize, and analyze data
- Experience in other data management and reporting tools is a plus
Preferred Skills:
- Public accounting or experience within a higher education institution
- Experience with ERP/SAP
