About the Role:

Chelsea Piers is in search of a Finance & Accounting Associate. In this position, you will play a vital role in supporting our Finance Team. Your responsibilities will include assisting the Finance Director in delivering precise and timely financial reports and serving as a resource for General Managers and Sports Directors regarding all finance-related inquiries. You will be working across our various locations.

As a Finance & Accounting Associate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating and assisting with the month-end closing process across our locations, which involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial documentation.
  • Preparing and reviewing Profit & Loss statements to confirm the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Supporting the annual budgeting process for all locations, collaborating closely with department heads.
  • Classifying invoices while ensuring adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing and submitting payroll on a weekly and bi-weekly basis in coordination with relevant department managers.
  • Assisting in the filing and remittance of sales tax for all locations.
  • Overseeing club purchasing, vendor agreements, and inventory management related to sports equipment and office supplies.
  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of operations, including our club management software.
  • Updating and distributing weekly performance reports.
  • Implementing and maintaining internal control measures.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as required.

This list of duties is not exhaustive, and you may be expected to undertake additional tasks as required by your supervisor, your evolving role within the organization, and overall business objectives.

About You:

You are enthusiastic and eager to learn all aspects of the accounting and finance operations at Chelsea Piers. You possess a solid understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP, along with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Additionally, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A keen attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • The capability to manage multiple projects, working both collaboratively and independently.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with financial software and tools is a plus.
  • The ability to apply financial analysis and modeling to identify opportunities for revenue generation, profit enhancement, and operational efficiencies.
  • The capability to communicate financial and analytical data effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • The willingness to travel between locations as necessary.
