Position: North Campus

Shift: Full-Time, Days, 7am-3:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting the pharmacist with pharmaceutical care services within the hospital. This includes preparing and processing medications under the pharmacist's supervision, ensuring appropriate medication storage in nursing units, repackaging and labeling medications, and managing the ordering, stocking, and transportation of pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with pharmacy protocols. The technician is expected to engage with patients, families, visitors, and staff in a respectful and collaborative manner, while also considering the unique needs of each patient and demonstrating competencies relevant to various age groups. Proficiency in mathematical calculations necessary for compounding is essential.

Qualifications

Education: A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.

Licensure/Certification: Registration with the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician must be obtained within 45 days of employment, along with national technician certification within one year of service.

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: The technician assists pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, compounding, and ordering of medications. Competence in repackaging medications and restocking automated dispensing systems is necessary. The technician should demonstrate proficiency in aseptic techniques and handling hazardous materials, as well as possess a general understanding of word processing and data entry operations to facilitate report generation.
