Role Responsibilities
The Certified Anesthesia Technician is tasked with the coordination and delivery of essential support functions for anesthesiologists across various clinical environments within the facility. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, maintaining, and storing anesthesia machines and equipment in designated areas.
  • Stocking anesthesia machines with medications and supplies provided by the pharmacy.
  • Ensuring thorough cleaning and decontamination of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
  • Facilitating the proper processing of reusable items.
  • Conducting regular rounds during shifts to assist anesthesiologists and nursing staff in patient care management.
  • Preparing invasive lines utilized by anesthesiologists.
  • Performing Point of Care testing.
  • Participating in Organ Transplant on-call duties.
  • Transporting medications as necessary.

Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Clinical Director of Surgical Services. It may involve additional physical demands and specific respiratory fit test requirements. Work Environment
The role entails exposure to various hazards, including potential contact with infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids, as well as electrical and radiological equipment. Candidates should be prepared for varying temperatures, prolonged standing, and the possibility of overtime, late shifts, weekends, and on-call duties. Adherence to standard safety protocols is essential to minimize risks.

Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include a minimum of 6 months of experience in a surgical department and organ transplant experience. Effective communication skills in English are required. Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program and hold certification.
