Job Overview:

General Summary: Under general supervision, this role involves the professional practice of compounding, dispensing, and managing medications and therapeutic agents.

Key Responsibilities:

The following duties are essential to the role. Failure to perform these responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, may lead to disqualification from the position.
  • Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and pharmaceuticals for patient care.
  • Maintains and evaluates patient medication profiles to ensure the appropriateness of drug therapy, including monitoring for allergies, interactions, and side effects.
  • Investigates and documents reports of adverse drug reactions, preparing necessary reports.
  • Provides guidance to staff, physicians, and patients regarding the proper use of medications.
  • Supervises pharmacy technicians in their daily tasks.
  • Ensures adequate inventory levels and monitors for expired medications.
  • Participates in educational programs for hospital staff and pharmacy training initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited pharmacy degree program (Bachelor of Science or Pharm. D).

Experience: No prior experience required.

Licensure/Certification: Must be licensed as a Doctor of Pharmacy (D.Ph.) by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy. Certification as a preceptor by the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy is required when eligible.

If the applicant does not possess an Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy License, they will be hired as a Graduate Intern and must obtain the license within six months.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of pharmacological principles and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information in an understandable manner.
  • Familiarity with professional standards and regulations governing medication dispensing.
  • Proficient computer skills.
