Job Overview

The Sales Engineer for our Inspection Services sector will be accountable for promoting our technical offerings and products to potential clients, serving as the primary liaison with Preformed Line Products' independent sales representative network across the United States. This position will collaborate closely with clients to comprehend their requirements and subsequently propose tailored solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue prospective clients based on technical compatibility and business needs.
  • Recognize key decision-makers and coordinate effective sales engagements, both independently and through our sales network.
  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of our service offerings, including relevant technical specifications and applications.
  • Deliver technical presentations to both potential and existing clients, highlighting the advantages and features of our service-related products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Preformed Line Products' extensive independent sales network.
  • Engage with industry representatives and clients as part of the sales strategy.
  • Support activities at trade exhibitions, including lead collection and follow-up.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints regarding services.
  • Assist in exploring new industry segments or business opportunities.
  • Support the identification and exploration of new product and service opportunities with clients.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Research & Engineering as necessary to investigate new service opportunities or service-related concerns.
  • Effectively manage travel and entertainment expenditures.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and updates on territory performance.

Qualifications:

  • Technical sales experience and/or inspection experience in the power utility sector is preferred, along with knowledge of industry services, product applications, and marketing strategies to effectively communicate product benefits to potential clients.
  • A minimum of 10 years in a technical or service sales role, ideally with experience managing external sales/service teams.
  • Demonstrated success in technical sales, with a proven record of meeting sales objectives.
  • Strong technical acumen, capable of articulating and simplifying complex technical concepts for clients.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, fostering trust and rapport with clients.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with a knack for proposing innovative solutions.
  • Proven capability to drive the sales process from initial planning through to closure.
  • Proficient in applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, up to 50% of the time, to support work-related activities.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal oversight.
