Medication Coordinator Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medication Coordinator to join our team at DePaul Community Services. As a Medication Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medications for our residents.

Responsibilities:
  • Properly log in all client medications, including checking labels for accuracy and completing proper documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication administration, including updating client charts and medication and treatment records.
  • Inventory medication counts in a timely fashion to identify medications that need to be ordered.
  • Ensure that prescriptions are refilled as needed and that effective systems are in place for the ordering of all medications.
  • Act as a liaison with residents, doctors, pharmacies, providers, and residential staff to ensure timely and accurate ordering of medications and appointment scheduling.
  • Oversee the supervision of all residents' medications in accordance with physician's orders, agency policy, and NYS Office of Mental Health regulations.
  • Review the Medications Administration Record (MAR) daily to ensure accuracy of the supervision of medications.
  • Report significant issues regarding client medications to the Medication Coordinator 2, Assistant Director, or the Residential Services Coordinator.
  • Assist with the training/orientation of new staff on proper supervision of resident medications.
  • Respect and maintain resident confidentiality and demonstrate a caring, positive attitude towards all residents, family members, staff, guests, and service providers.
  • Ensure the medication room is clean, organized, quiet, and a welcoming environment for residents.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma/GED and excellent organizational skills as demonstrated by prior medication management experience.
  • One (1) year experience working with medications.
  • A clean NYS driving record as outlined in DePaul's personnel policy is preferred.
