Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Animal Technician to join our team at Maxis Clinical Sciences. As a key member of our animal research facility, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and husbandry to our laboratory animals, ensuring their health and well-being in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care and maintenance of laboratory animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health and behavior.
  • Perform routine and specialized animal procedures, such as injections, blood draws, and surgical procedures, under the guidance of a veterinarian or experienced technician.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal care, including feeding schedules, health observations, and veterinary directives.
  • Assist in the training of new team members and provide guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Collaborate with the animal research team to develop and implement new procedures and protocols to improve animal care and research outcomes.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in animal science or a related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an animal research facility or veterinary practice, with a focus on laboratory animal care and husbandry.
  • AALAS certification highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
