Compunnel Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Health Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing veterinary health care services to laboratory animal populations under the direct supervision of an Animal Resources Veterinarian or Senior Animal Health Technologist.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of preventive medicine programs, including physical examinations, vaccinations, disease control, and health surveillance programs.
- Participate in environmental enrichment programs for all species, ensuring the well-being and comfort of our animal populations.
- Assist in the maintenance and operation of aseptic surgical suites, including pre-, peri-, and post-operative care of surgical patients.
- Conduct large and small animal health rounds, communicating any abnormalities to an Animal Resources Veterinarian.
- Collect and submit specimens to diagnostic laboratories for analysis.
- Participate in in-service training and directed workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge base.
- Administer basic veterinary medical treatments under the guidance of an Animal Resources Veterinarian.
- Comply with applicable animal welfare regulations, performing all work in a safe manner, and maintaining proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in veterinary animal health technology or equivalent program with a minimum of one year practical experience performing veterinary technical procedures.
- AALAS certification is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and working knowledge of animal welfare regulations.
- Proficiency with MS applications and working knowledge of medical terminology.
