Job Summary

At West Pharmaceutical Services, we are seeking a highly skilled Lab Engineer to join our team. As a Lab Engineer, you will be responsible for designing laboratory test/assembly figures and jigs, drafting engineering drawings of fixtures and jigs for manufacturing, and managing timelines of the machine shops and vendors used to procure and fabricate parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop laboratory test/assembly figures and jigs using SolidWorks
  • Draft engineering drawings of fixtures and jigs for manufacturing
  • Manage timelines of the machine shops and vendors used to procure and fabricate parts
  • Manage CAD models and drawing revisions in vault
  • Assist in the development of test methods, as well as the planning and coordination of test method validations/Gage R&Rs
  • Ensure lab equipment and environmental chambers are properly installed and qualified (IQ/OQ)
  • Work closely with the Lab Supervisor, Verification Engineers, and Lab Technicians to plan and coordinate testing needs
  • Occasionally write technical documents such as work instructions, test plans, protocols, and reports
  • Perform data analysis, as needed, for technical reports
Requirements
  • Required minimum education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical engineering preferred)
  • Required minimum experience: 3-5 years of experience
  • Excellent CAD design and drafting in SolidWorks
  • Excellent in Designing for Manufacturability, specifically machining and 3D printing
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills when managing vendors
  • Excellent problem-solving skills as well as keen analytical abilities
  • Knowledgeable in electromechanical design
  • Knowledgeable in software development and validation
  • Knowledgeable in test method validations, specifically Gage R&R, a plus
  • Knowledge of Statistics and experience using Minitab a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office suite including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality Management Systems for Medical Devices
Travel Requirements
  • May be required to travel up to 10% of the time
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Light - exerting up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently constantly to move objects
