Compensation:

  • Nights Differential: $3.75 per hour
  • Weekend Differential: $4.20 per hour

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $10,000 with a 2-year commitment

Relocation Assistance: $3,000 with a 2-year commitment

Role Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is responsible for delivering direct nursing care in accordance with established protocols and procedures. Collaborating with patients, their families, and the healthcare team, the RN assesses patient care needs, formulates care plans, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.

The RN provides hands-on care and supervises the nursing activities of Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and unlicensed staff. Adhering to the Nursing Department's policies and standards, the RN ensures care is tailored to the age-specific needs of patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient needs.
  • Plan and implement nursing interventions.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Oversee nursing staff and manage patient assignments during shifts.

Licensure and Certifications:

Current Registered Nurse licensure from the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners is required. A compact license is acceptable.

Current ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association are mandatory.

Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is highly preferred. Candidates with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) may be considered if they have substantial experience and are enrolled in a BSN program within six months of hire, completing it within three years.

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of one year of experience as an RN in a high-acuity PCU or critical care environment is essential. Candidates without recent acute care experience may be considered if their absence from acute care does not exceed five years.

Note: Experience must be in a hospital setting, with a focus on step-down, PCU, or intermediate care. Telemetry experience is not applicable.
