Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse is accountable for evaluating the operative nursing care requirements of patients, planning interventions, and assessing care outcomes. The RN is tasked with delivering age-appropriate care (pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics), considering developmental and safety needs, the planned procedure, and the anesthetic agent utilized. The RN will communicate and educate patients and/or their family members regarding pertinent care events. Additionally, the RN anticipates and prepares for the surgical team's needs while coordinating care in the operating room, ensuring a sterile and safe environment.

The RN also provides direct care and/or supervises surgical technologists and non-licensed nursing personnel. Beyond standard RN responsibilities, the RN may also assume charge duties, which include making assignments, supervising, and directing staff and unit activities during their assigned shift.

Qualifications:

  • Valid TX RN License or RN Compact State License.
  • BLS certification from an approved HCA vendor.
  • ACLS certification from an approved HCA vendor; if currently held, it must be maintained; if not, it must be obtained within 6 months and maintained thereafter.
  • PALS certification from an approved HCA vendor; if currently held, it must be maintained; if not, it must be obtained within 6 months and maintained thereafter.
  • ADN required; BSN preferred. If hired into an RN-required position after September 2014 without a BSN, it must be obtained within 3 years of the facility date.
  • A minimum of one year of recent nursing experience in an acute care setting is required.
