Position Overview

This role is responsible for assessing all patients referred for Audiology services and providing suitable recommendations to facilitate their return to optimal functional capabilities and to avert further disability.

This encompasses collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
Conducts patient assessments, treatments, follow-ups, and documentation: Independently and accurately selects and executes suitable evaluation and reassessment methods; Establishes appropriate objectives; Plans and implements therapy effectively to achieve patient goals; Autonomously adjusts sessions in response to changes in patient condition, environment, and discharge plan; Recognizes the necessity for and initiates discharge from therapy services, and independently suggests and initiates referrals to suitable venues for additional therapy services; Provides comprehensive patient/family/caregiver education throughout the treatment process.

  • Ensures safe, appropriate, effective, and efficient patient care by delivering accurate, thorough, and timely documentation that consistently meets departmental standards; Accurately charges for services rendered; Completes charges promptly.

Time Management:
Maintains individual productivity at established standards.

If productivity does not meet targets, engages in problem-solving with supervisors to enhance productivity; Effectively manages caseload and other responsibilities to ensure timely completion.

Proactively identifies the need to adjust schedules throughout the day to accommodate new priorities; Recognizes team workload and proactively offers or seeks assistance to ensure timely completion of team tasks and achievement of departmental and organizational objectives; Efficiently plans therapy sessions to maximize outcomes.

  • Teamwork and Flexibility:

Considers team priorities when managing personal schedule/caseload. Consistently offers or seeks help based on team needs and overall caseload priorities; Collaborates with team members to delegate appropriate patients/tasks to others to free oneself for professional duties (e.g., delegating evaluations to PTAs, assigning tasks to front office staff to enhance patient care); Utilizes non-patient care time effectively by assisting team members.

Frequently adjusts schedules throughout the day to meet departmental or patient needs (related to call-outs, influx of new orders, etc.); Willingly modifies schedules to support departmental goals (e.g., offers to give back flex days, picks up extra shifts during weekends or holidays); Collaborates with team members and leadership to ensure optimal resource utilization, including technical staff.

Willingly adapts rotations throughout the year to meet team requirements.

Professional Communication:

Consistently communicates positively and effectively with all members of the healthcare team to support exceptional patient care; Maintains open lines of communication with department leadership; Shares relevant information when delegating patients/tasks to other therapists, assistants, technicians, and front office staff; Maintains clear communication with assistants regarding patient needs and progress; Provides constructive feedback to others as necessary and in a professional manner.


Clinical Practice Development:

Seeks constructive feedback regarding personal practice and utilizes this feedback to implement practice improvements; Assists in the orientation and training of new staff, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the performance and skills of colleagues.

Serves as a mentor to new employees regularly; Demonstrates knowledge of national standards of practice.

Incorporates these standards into practice and holds oneself and others accountable for adherence; Engages in continuing education, reviews relevant literature, and applies current research findings to foster ongoing professional development.

Integrates new knowledge into practice; May serve as an effective clinical instructor for students.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Master's degree in Audiology required.
Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) preferred.

EXPERIENCE: New graduates will be considered; experience in relevant settings preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: REQUIRED

CCC-A | CCC Certification in Audiology by ASHA
BLS (CPR) - American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Licensure from the NC Board of Speech, Language, and Audiology required.
