The Respiratory Care Specialist Tier II plays a crucial role in evaluating patients with respiratory issues, performing diagnostic assessments, creating treatment strategies, and delivering respiratory therapy.
This position involves operating medical equipment, observing patient reactions, and providing urgent care when necessary. The specialist collaborates with healthcare teams to manage respiratory ailments, enhance lung capacity, and promote overall patient health. Working with some oversight, this role also provides education to patients regarding respiratory wellness and prevention of diseases.Talent Pool:
Nursing Support
Key Responsibilities:
Enhances patient pulmonary function and alleviates discomfort by developing and administering prescribed respiratory treatments.
Ensures high-quality care by conducting pulmonary function assessments, interpreting evaluation results, and formulating respiratory therapy plans in conjunction with physicians.
Facilitates patient adherence to treatment plans by administering inhalation therapies, managing mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas delivery systems, environmental control mechanisms, and aerosol devices.
Implements respiratory therapy interventions by performing bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with respiratory exercises, and monitoring physiological responses to treatment, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and biochemical changes.
Assesses the effectiveness of respiratory therapy plans by observing, documenting, and evaluating patient progress, recommending necessary adjustments.Completes discharge planning by collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, contributing to patient care discussions.
Ensures continuity of care post-discharge by designing home exercise programs and instructing patients, families, and caregivers on these programs.
Performs additional duties as required or assigned.Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, licensed by the NC Board of Respiratory Care.
EXPERIENCE: Required: 3 years of experience in acute clinical settings, or completion of equivalent acute care clinical rotations.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/
LISTING: Required: Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a RRT; Licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board as a CRT or RRT; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; ACLS-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
